Tall Girls Are Awesome!!!

Woohoo, my blog is one today!!! I’m super excited. It’s funny how my blog and Ishare the same birth month (PS: I didn’t plan for it to be this way lol). I even feel like a mother who has watched her child grow; from suckling on her breasts to talking, walking and growing teeth too! LOL

So, speech time guys *clears throat*

Wow! Tall Girls Are Awesome’s 1st year was an amazing journey. Blogging has taught me so much about myself, passion, growth, ownership and so much technical knowledge. All of the good times, funny posts, inspiring posts, not-so-good posts and the many challenges have taught me so much. I remember writing my first post in my office a year ago and I’m thinking “how time flies!”

Fashion Must-Haves for Summer 2016!

Hey darls,

Thanks for stopping by the blog. I trust you are perfect in the One who loves you. Happy New Month and Happy Belated Birthday to me! Yass, I became a year older on August the 2nd and it couldn’t have been more amazing 😀 (birthday post et pictures loading)

In today’s blog post I’d be sharing every fashionista’s must haves this summer (PS: The recipe of the finger-licking dish in M’s words is in the oven. Don’t think I’ve forgotten! 😉 )

To me and every other person I’m sure, summer time is fun time (And yes, there’s summer even in Nigeria lol). It’s a time to wear all the pastel colors from clothes to shoes, bags, accessories, beach wear…I could go on and on. However, I’d be sharing my favorite pieces which I consider fashion must-haves for you to rock this summer with!

Yay? Let’s roll!

1. A floral dress– Who doesn’t love flowers? Well, I know my mum does! With its bright colors and flowery designs, a floral dress is perfect to wear this summer and for that lunch date too! (sshh, i didn’t say anything)

2. An Ankara top -It’s no longer news that Ankara ti take over LOL. The Ankara fabric is now used for bags, shoes, sandals and even lingerie! I love the Ankara fabric. For that casual look, an Ankara top is always perfect on a jeans trouser with a nice pair of sandals or high heels! Need I say more?

Next up is:

3. The classic white shirt– So I’m not going to say much here. Just have a crisp classic white shirt in your wardrobe, it keeps you winning!

4. Wide legged denim trousers– Inspired from the 70’s, an off shoulder top and a floral top too would look great on a wide legged denim trousers.

It is common knowledge that the media sphere is now evolving (in fact is there anything that has not evolved). This trend of evolution is what The Academic summit (TAS) has successfully highlighted and tracked for the past six years.

At every juncture, TAS makes concerted efforts in making all Stakeholders in the media industry see how far the media has come, present realities and trends, and projections for the future.

TAS is a platform designed to inform and educate prospective media practitioners and students about prevalent issues in the media industry as it affects contemporary practice and trends in the media industry.

It seeks to converge top professionals from all media organizations spanning the entire length of the media sphere (Journalism, Public Relations, Advertising, Digital media, television/radio). These professionals are able to provide an opportunity for participants to seek direction in media careers.

Top Professionals such as Femi Adesina (Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity); Tolu Ogunlesi (Special Adviser to the President on New media); John Momoh, Biodun Shobanjo, Maupe Ogun, Morayo Afolabi-Brown, Yomi Badejo-Okunsanya etc.

This year’s edition promises to even be better as top speakers have been penciled to speak at the event. A panelist session with speakers from the diverse fields of mass communication will grace the occasion.

Workshop sessions that, without doubt, expose students to new territories will also be part of the event. Classes such as Copy writing, Art Direction, Digital marketing etc have already been planned with top speakers ready to impart knowledge to the teeming population that would grace the event.

It is evident that all is set for the biggest media event and be sure, after the event you would begin to see and explore the numerous uncharted opportunities that surround you.

DIY Tips and Hacks

Okay so after I read a post on a blog, I asked myself if it was just me who didn’t like to throw things away because they were stained, torn or damaged. That’s why I came up with some Do-It-Yourself tips and hacks that’d work the magic on your favorite clothes, bag or shoes without you having to dispose them.

Why Hacks?

Hacks or Life hack refer to tricks that increase productivity and efficiency. Hmm, that’s too much grammar! Let’s just say, hacks help you get things done and done quickly. Here they are: Continue reading

Chronicles of a UNILAG undergraduate III

Hey there,

Thanks for stopping by the blog 🙂 I know that I’ve been AWOL for so long but hey, I’m back! For real I am, lol…with so much to talk about-the good and the bad. I’d start however by sharing the good news with you.

In my last post, I lamented about how stressful school was because I hadn’t secured accommodation on campus which meant me going from home on a daily basis (mehn, it wasn’t funny). Well, now I stay on campus..yay! And honestly, life has just been easier… I also spoke about how much I needed a laptop to be more consistent with blogging and do school work too. I DID GET A LAPTOP! It happened in the most miraculous way as I never even envisaged getting it as a gift, I know it must have been God and I’m so grateful…You see something eh, this taught me a major lesson: JUST BELIEVE. I was so troubled with how I hadn’t posted anything new on the blog in so long, I didn’t realize I have a father full of wonders and voila you’re reading a new post. Is there something you’re so encumbered about? Is there something you’re almost giving up on? Just believe darling!

And the next good news I’m super exited to tell you about is that… we now have a brand logo! Yayyy!!! I’d rather call it a header or better still, picture but my brand manager (you know yourself..lol) put the words ‘brand logo’ in my mouth.

tallgirlsareawesome

There it is! What do you think about it? Feel free to let me know your thoughts in the comment box 😉 . I considered coming up with this a big project ‘cos I wanted it to be just the way I imagined it and I hope you like it as much as I do *smiles* (I danced when I saw it…haha, that’s how excited I was)

Yet another good news! I got nominated for the Liebster award by the amazing Mfon (Yas! she’s from my state too) You should check out her blog DaintyM . It is in 2 words: Simply beautiful, just in case you find yourself stuck on it! The Liebster Award is a way of encouraging new bloggers.

liebster award

I call them ‘blogging freshmen’. A post on it is coming up soon where I’d be answering fun questions after which I’d also nominate other bloggers for the award, wait for it 😉 😉

Chronicles of a UNILAG undergraduate II

Hola amigos,

Feels so good to eventually write something again for you to read, blogging has been a blessing and even more a blessing having amazing people to read and share in my joy and pain most times. I’m thankful to God for that! On Sunday, this past one, I began to have this feeling of emptiness. Like when you have lost your value? Yah. Questions began to pop in my head and I started to ask myself why I write or why I even started to blog in the first place. I gave answers. But they didn’t seem to be the right ones. I searched deep, I was in church at the moment so I decided to pray. There’s so much God has taught me and is still going to teach me through the many phases of life. And they all have to be documented. I searched deeper still. Then I came across this quote by Christian .D. Larson which says,

“Believe in yourself and all that you are. Know that there is something                                           inside of you that is greater than any obstacle.”

And another one by a Nigerian blogger which says,

“The truest and rawest form of writing is when it’s for you. Not for                                                comments or a pat on the back. Just a translation of you…into words.”

Self control..it’s a virtue!

Hello. It’s me…

Reminded you of Adele right?lol.. everyone loves that song and I suppose I do too 😉

How have you been? It’s been a while, I know I know and I’ve missed you too! I mentioned in a previous post that school registration was beginning soon and it did o..stressful it has been! It’s really taken its toll on me..thus today’s post!

One virtue I learnt during this period is self-control! I’m not a very patient person..nahh! I like things to happen fast, in my own way and if possible at my own time..lol but then I’ve learnt to control myself-particularly my emotions. I had to google the meaning of the word so I found this:

self-control
noun
  1. the ability to control oneself, in particular one’s emotions and desires, especially in difficult situations.
                 self control

Aha! …one’s emotions and desires, especially in difficult situations. There were some days I had been so stressed because of all the waka-waka from hall to bank to faculty and back to hall under the hottt sun that can boil yam and beans..lol.

E no funny o.

I would then get home and pour all the anger from hunger o, stress o ati gbo gbo e…on the person who comes to me first. This happened severally until I spoke to myself..yes ke, it was necessary! They were not the ones responsible for my being stressed out neither were they the ones who needed the school stuff to be done with. The best thing I told myself is..to exercise control! You may be angry or stressed or sad still, control yourself..put yourself in charge of your emotions and not the opposite!

self control the battle

The battle between oneself and one’s emotions..This is just the perfect illustration of what happens when you don’t let your emotions and desires take charge..but choose to control yourself!

So guess what? I prayed too.. 🙂 Yuup! I asked God to help me cos there’re so many things that cannot be handled by oneself..except He steps into the picture..

I’m still a Work-In-Progress, God’s not done with me yet..but I have to exercise the virtue of self-control! It’s also a fruit of the Spirit, the more reason you must possess it! Start work on yourself and ask God for help too..

Have a blessed weekend! 😀

Lots of chocolate,

Aniee

PS: Don’t hesitate to comment and share your thoughts/experiences if you’ve similar ones..that’s my oxygen 😉

“…make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love.”
