MERRY CHRISTMAS IN ADVANCE!
I’m not sure if it’s too late to ask this but…How did your weekend go? Great? That’s what’s up! Not great? It could have been worse. I had an amazing weekend, attended a wedding, my church had a Christmas concert and I attended another Christmas concert, a theatrical carol actually. It was amazing!
Guyssss, I’ve seen the finale of Skinny Girl In Transit season 4. Sigh. Love is sweet oh lol. Don’t allow anybody tell you otherwise (I should actually be telling myself that but anyways…). Please watch the finale if you haven’t.
Enough gist already…
2017 is on its way out. It was a good year, had a few life experiences that taught me deep lessons. However, I’m glad the year is ending well. 2018 is going to be a good year, I can tell. I feel it in my heart, soul, mind, spirit lol. Basically, I know it’s going to be an amazing year which is why I’m writing to it or better still, I’m writing to myself in 2018 (not sure if that makes any sense as well but you get my point, yeah?)
So, here we go:
- Never, ever compare yourself to others.
Comparison is the thief of joy! If you didn’t already know this, allow me tell you again and louder so that those at the back can hear. COMPARISON IS THE THIEF OF JOY. Social media is just an illusion. Many a times , what you see on social media isn’t what really is. If you compare your life, your beauty, your status, your relationship, your job, your walk with God, I could go on and on, to lives of others, you’ll just end up sad or even depressed. What I’m trying to say is that life itself is a process not a competition. There are so many people who wish to be in your shoes, the same shoes you’re complaining that aren’t red bottoms or Gucci. You are enough. You are right where you should be at this time of your life. You should only strive to be bigger and better.
- Love yourself.
One of the many things I learnt this year is self-love. Sadly, I didn’t learn it early enough. There’s no crime in loving yourself, in taking yourself out, in buying gifts for yourself (I bought a birthday card for myself this August and my roommates thought I was going crazy LOL). It’s when you feel good about yourself without needing anyone’s approval. Spoil yourself, give yourself a thumbs up or a pat on the back or a kiss on the forehead lol because if you don’t, who else will? Okay, someone may but what if no one does? You have to tell yourself ”You’re doing great!”. It’s the perfect ‘ginger’ (morale booster).
- Guard your dreams.
We all wish to be rich, beautiful, travel round the world, become Presidents, Governors etc. Don’t let go of that dream. Hold tight and fast unto it. Work hard and pray hard. Most importantly, be patient and wait on God. I know this may sound super cliché but God’s time is really the best.
- Be real, Be you!
If there is anything that made me happy the most this year is how people always thanked me for being real. The real me can be annoying, overbearing, hot-tempered, impatient, blah blah but I’m glad I am me. I’m glad I didn’t pretend to be someone else. In 2018, I’ll be me but a better version of me.
- Pay more attention to physical health
I do not like working out, going to the gym or doing anything fitness related. Those who know me well know this. I’m allergic to it lol. In 2018, I’ve decided to pay more attention to my physical health. Not because I want to be lose weight but because I want to be fit. Being fit has so many benefits (as I’ve finally come to realize). So, on your marks, get set, ready, GO!!!! It’s going to be hard but I’m ready *jogs* haha.
This is all for now. I’ll definitely add more as they come. Please, don’t just read. I want to know what you think. What are you telling yourself in 2018? Drop a comment xx
Till next time,
Hugs and ‘kilzes’,
