Breast Cancer Awareness.

Hey there!

Thanks for stopping by the blog. It’s a huge blessing to have you read and share your thoughts on my posts :). How has your October been? Mine has been ‘stress-FULL’. There has been so much school work- assignments, projects – to handle, now my exams are here! I start this week so wish me luck.

Before I share what’s new, here’s a shout out to everyone who read, liked, left comments and shared the post on depression. I’m thankful! I got so much positive feedback  (see Depression: How to overcome it. if you haven’t read it yet). However, that has gingered me to share more real life issues with you. I really hope this interests you and you enjoy what’s to come. So stick around, there’s more great stuff ahead!

Fast forward to why my blog’s pink lol. This October, I’m thinking PINK. October is Breast Cancer awareness month and to support this, I have decided to write on it and personalize my blog too. The major, major reason why I’m involved in this is because a few years ago, I had a breast cancer scare (thankfully, it wasn’t). That event made me realize many ladies like myself are either unaware or choose to overlook the issue of Breast Cancer. Stats, according to breastcancercare.org.uk say that, the lifetime risk of a woman developing breast cancer is 1 in 8. Breastcancer.org says too that the younger you are, the lower the risk and the older you are, the higher the risk of breast cancer. While breast cancer in some cases is hereditary, other causal factors are beyond our control.

In the spirit of Breast Cancer awareness, let me share tit bits on things every lady should know in preventing the risk of developing breast cancer.

  • Check yourself- regularly!- Dear lady, you own your boobs. Examine them yourself as often as you can. Check for lumps or any oddity about them. Once you sense anything funny or unusual (here’s common symptoms ), inform a doctor ASAP.
  • Eat right! As cliché as this sounds with the whole ‘Fit fam’ thingy going on now, this cannot be overemphasized. If you’re like me who fancies eating junk and drinking soda, then there has to be a switch! Let your meals comprise of foods that are high in fiber, eats lots of fruits and vegetables. Do this as often as you can until it becomes a part of you.

  • Work, work, work it out! Yass girl! I’ve never really been a big fan of exercise or working out, whatever it is people call it these days. In any case my dear girl, it is super important to work out. It does not have to be all the vigorous ones, just brisk walking a couple of times on a long road or within your estate helps too. You could then graduate to doing jumping jacks, jogging on a spot, squats *wink* lol. All of this just to keep fit and stay healthy!

Basically, the above listed are the major ways to prevent breast cancer. Other things you should do in preventing breast cancer is to limit your intake of alcohol to the barest minimum. Know that the more alcohol you drink, the greater your risk of developing breast cancer. Don’t smoke! Smoking also increases the risk of one developing breast cancer. Even if you neither smoke nor drink, tell someone to tell someone that knows someone who smokes or drink to stop!

This post is also to celebrate all the amazing ladies and women who have survived Breast cancer. You are strong, you are beautiful and you are loved!

survivors

I pray that God heals every woman battling breast cancer IJN. I also pray that God will preserve you and I and every lady from breast cancer IJN.

Peace and love,

Aniee
