All the “things” we do

Hey hey,

I’m so sorry that there has been no new post in soo long, it seemed Β like a while to me too *covers face*. Thanks to everyone who checked up on me asking why there were no latest posts, there is now..lol.. been so occupied with work and planning for the major event my NGO is organizing this December tagged ‘Bright Christmas’ (PS: Bright Christmas is a way to give back to the people by simply putting smiles on their faces and sharing with them the joy and the laughter that Christmas brings…soo that’s basically it) I hope you remember Christmas is only a month away *dancing*..lol. Don’t mind me..I know you do.

Todayyy, I’d be sharing with you what I finally decided to share after much thinking and pondering..There really was much thinking believe me, you want me to tell you? hmm? okay, I would..So this is pretty much how the conversation between me and TGAA, my blogger self went..

Me: OMG!! I haven’t put up a blog post in like forever

TGAA: You see, and there are so many things for you to blog about..

*flashback to the diary in which I wrote them down, picked it up and hurriedly flipped through the pages…there you are!*

Me: I can see them but it’s not just time yet..

TGAA: No post about relationships under ME-motions?

Me:Well…I just haven’t been in love lately..lol (couldn’t help but laugh at myself)

TGAA: Yes! How about that one topic that has always been on your mind to blog about

Me:Which one?

TGAA: That one now…

Me: *grumbles* I don’t….ooh! I do oh…but I’m still gathering momentum for that one…

TGAA: sigh..*feels defeated*

Me: *back to work*

PS:I'm fine
PS:I’m fine..lol

That was a few days back but here I am now…

During the week, something happened..A friend who was once my tutor asked me to write a testimony for his website, basically about the tutorial and all..the things I learnt and the exam scores I got. I wore my thinking cap and reminisced on how I was before and after the period I attended the tutorial..picked up my computer and started to write.

In the end, it turned out to be a very lengthy one…Of all the many things I put down, one of them was how ‘The tutor’ always encouraged me..during the tutorials, I was a late comer, a noise maker, an ardent hater for anything that had to do with calculations so I abhorred Math and Economics. However, all these changed afterwards…how it happened I don’t know!

Under 3 months, all of that attitude changed.. I asked myself, why does ‘The tutor’ do all the things he does. He must have told himself he wanted to change the attitude of people like me who had just given up on a whole lot..he must have told himself that he wanted to change ‘hate’ to ‘love’, how he wanted to inspire and push others to doing great things…

So I asked myself, why do I do all of the ‘things’ I do? All the good and the bad..Do I do it for people to clap for me and sing my praises or for the reason behind why I do things to spur people on to doing even better things? Why do I sing? Why do I blog? Why do I go to church? Why do I choose to work with an NGO to effect social change via social media? Why do I make people laugh? (PS: I think I have become so funny so much so that I am compared to Bovi, a comedian in Nigeria..lol πŸ˜‰ )

Why do you do all the “things” you do? Ask yourself this and carry out a self-examination…I’m still carrying out one on myself too.

Have a blessed weekend>>

Lots of love and chocolate,

Aniee

Positive mind, Positive vibes, Positive life..

Hey you,

AWESOME

Happy Monday! πŸ˜€ How’s the going been? The weekend’s over..mine went well, I tried to rest as much as I could..lol knowing another week was on its wayy.. Hoping you were also able to rest and enjoy yours too..

Today’s post is going to be short (not like I always have long posts..lol) so it’s ‘cos I’d just be sharing a quote I like from my favee, Maya Angelou which I would love for you to peruse on and get the wonderful message it carries… I’d share what I learnt at the end of this post.

It reads thus,

”We delight in the beauty of the butterfly, but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty. There’s always a journey that shapes us and a process that graces us to achieve true beauty” Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β ~ Maya Angelou

This quote just says a lot. What this quote made me realize is that every trial, tough phase or difficulty is a testing ground to the next level. In life, everyone goes through so many trying times but the most important thing is that we overcome and come out of it all with a different attitude to life, we come out stronger, better and a clearer understanding of why it happened. God knows the end of a thing from the beginning and being such a loving Father, he would not allow us His children go through phases and temptations we cannot overcome. There is just always that trying time we have to go through to really bring out the beauty and strength in us, helping you discover yourself the more.. Always see the best in every ugly situation!

So be strong, be positive, be happy, be thankful, keep praying and remember that there is always light at the end of the tunnel.. πŸ˜‰

” Β And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose.” Β  Β ~ Romans 8:28

Have a God-led, favor-filled week ahead!

What are you thankful for?

Hey you,

I hope you’re doing awesome. It’s Tuesday already, work has been going on smoothly too..thanks! Misplaced a document I have been working on for days today and I almost cried, thinking about how to start composing a new one just made me weak but luckily for me I had shared it with my colleague at work so she searched for it and sent to me…yayy! I am so thankful..that’s today’s gist oh!thanks

So I got inspired to share this with you after reading an amazing Β write up from one of the blogs I follow which just made me reflect on recent happenings in my life that maybe I just forgot to say ‘thank you’ for or some things I just overlooked and tagged as some normal stuff that’s just supposed to happen.. I’m thankful for..

  • The gift of life and Family… they’re just the best, all the love and laughter! Even after a very hard and rough day, the smiles on my mum’s face is more than a ‘welcome home baby’.. my siblings..all of them are just the funniest beings, we laugh at everything and anything..lol
  • Good health…The thought of how I haven’t had to take any drugs ‘cos I was under the weather or had to take ‘paracetamol’ ‘cos I had headaches or body aches crept into my mind of recent and I can’t but be thankful..even with all the ‘waka waka’ and bus conductor wahala..lol, which I wrote about in my last post.
  • Food..people who know me and my fam know this is an undisputed fact..we LOVE food, especially me..lol! We eat, have and cook every delicious meal you can think of and I am thankful to God for providing us with all we need..downloadi love food
  • Academic success.. sometime in June, I wrote an external exam to get into university. Everyone who knows JUPEB knows how competitive it is, I refused to fear(although i was at some point)..I am so thankful ‘coos when the results were released in September, I passed beyond my imaginations!! I was number 4 on the merit list *blushes*
  • Friends..I have the best friends, really! They can be so annoying most of the time but I still love them all the same ..always there to make me laugh, support me when I need them and tolerate me when I get silly and crackΒ dryΒ jokes..LOL (I sha know my jokes are funny)
  • Work..I have to thank God for work! It hasn’t been easy especially when you have to learn things from the scratch..lol. Today I can clap for myself and score myself when it comes to curating content, thinking fast and getting creative..The learning process has been fun, so many new experiences, new friends, new insight and understanding of life…I am thankful!
  • Church..We’ve been transferred! That’s right, we got a new posting to pastor another parish and I bless God for another opportunity to do His work and fulfill His purpose. There’s much work but He is with us..
  • I’m thankful for the gift of writing and blogging that has come to life in me..I am thankful for all those that followed, liked (PS: silent readers are acknowledged πŸ˜‰ ) and commented, especially those whose comments kept me grinning from ear to ear; you know yourself..lol. Simply getting notifications that someone has liked or commented on my blog post is one of the things that make my day and keep me excited πŸ˜€
  • Β  Β TGAA
  • My sweetest ‘orobo’ sister is in JSS1 in the same school myself and siblings went to, that’s how daddy wanted it and she’s enjoying every bit of it.. she’s even class captain and she’s marching for the inter house sport too..lol
  • Music..and singing too, things that keep me bubbly all the time!

There’s so much to be thankful for and if I were to go on and on it would end up being a really long post..haha

So all said.. i agree there are bad times and good times still I try as much as I can to make gratitude my attitude ‘cos it just is one of the keys to living happily πŸ™‚quotation-gratitude-1

What are you thankful for? Reflect on it. You don’t have to share with me, just pick a pen and sheet of paper and jot away…

“Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you” Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β ~ 1 Thessalonians 5:18

Stay blessed.. xoxo

Things you have to do ‘cos you work…in Lagos!

Hey you,

Wassa wassa? This week’s been pretty hectic but I thank God for it all, it’s over in the twinkle of a eye which brings me to the beginning of my countdown to the most wonderfulll time of the year- Christmas!!! Believe it or not…it is.

Things you have to do ‘cos you work in Lagos just popped up as I was on my way home yesterday oh, 07|10|15 from work (yeah, I intern at an NGO as a communications lead and social media manager..sounds interesting? it is but more work than fun..lol) and I decided to share it with my lovelies. So back to the gist, I had alighted from the bus I boarded at Ojota, the conductor did not have 50 naira change to give me and I did not have any other kobo on me to complete my journey home.

Typical 'danfo' bus in Lagos
Typical ‘danfo’ bus in Lagos

So I stood there, it was not only me oh..lol, we were like 5 people. As I was standing at the bus stop, my alter ego was like ”a whole big girl standing on the road with other people waiting for change..chai and she’s working oh” then I responded saying ”biko forget big girl and worker oh, shingbain no Β (no cash) dey my pocket oh. Eventually I was given 100 naira to split with another lady, she had change so she gave me and we both went our separate ways. I was already so pissed at the conductor that when it was time to cross, there were no smiles on my face as the road was extremely busy. I didn’t have the energy to use the bridge so crossing was the best bet for me *covers face*

Another thing you have to do ‘cos you work in Lagos asides having issues with the bus conductor is crossing the express road….in Lagos. Why? Because the cars don’t wait and you are not ready to wait. They want to speed off and you want to cross to the other side. In the case where you such a desperado like I was yesterday, you don’t even have time to waste; you just want to cross. So I found my way through the first lane as busy as it was, “whew”, I thought..lol. Left with two lanes, I crossed the next one with myself less than 1km before the cars…they were so close, I thank God for my life. As I crossed the last one, I couldn’t help but laugh at myself as I looked back at the eyes that feasted on me. I told myself, ”I’m so blogging about this”. They’re just some of the weirdest, out-of-my-comfort-zone kinda stuffs you have to do when you’re a hustler *shrugs*

lagos

But really, Lagos is one place you would enjoy. I have lived in Lagos all my life so when I tell you this please believe me, all the good, bad and ugly sides are just what make it the most fun place in the whole of Nigeria..lol. It has the best malls, markets, food joints, ‘owambes’..that’s right and all the trending things…come from Lagos! I hope you found this exciting as much as I did, as more about my Lagos work life experience would be coming in! Share with me too if you’ve had similar experiences *winks*

Have a blessed weekend>>>

Lots of chocolate,

Aniee,Β the hustler

Happy Birthday Nigeria!

Hello hello,

Happy Monday you! May this new week bring pleasant surprises! By the way, it’s a new month and just 2 months left to the end of 2015! Wow.. this year has just been the fastest, don’t you think?

So I still get the chance to wish my beloved country a happy independence and happy 55th birthday..lol. It hurt so much that I couldn’t make a blog post on Nigeria’s independence (PS: it’s celebrated annually on October 1), I really wish I did anyways I didn’t and that’s cos I was extremely busy the day before creating content for social media.. that’s like the best part of my job, and then the next day was a public holiday! However, here’s to this great nation, NIGERIA!

nig independence

Nigeria is green. Nigeria is strong. Nigeria is black. Nigeria is beautiful.

Unique inside out, we stand out culturally with over 500 languages, cultural attires; you need to see Nigerians decked in their ankara, aso-oke, gele and with our super cool dance steps; only then can you see how Nigeria is colorful!

Inside Nigeria, lies over 170 million black, united and strong army. Yes! we’re an army, we fight yet overcome, we’re beaten but not broken, we learn bitter lessons in hard ways yet allow those bitter lessons sweeten our ‘tomorrow’…

4 parts (North, South, East and West), over 500 languages from 250 ethnic groups, uncountable types of delicious, mouth-watering meals (PS: Ask anywhere, Nigeria has the best meals. Talk of Afang soup, Banga soup, ogbono, egusi ,ewedu, efo riro, gbegiri, oha soup, coconut rice, jollof rice, edikanikong soup…chai! let me better stop here cos I can’t take it no more..lol)
edikanikongogbono-soup,over 170 million people in… 1 NIGERIA!

Beyond every reasonable doubt, we have had our trying times with the Boko Haram insurgency, tales of corruption, crises in the power, education, health sector… the list is endless! Just like the saying on how we should be the change that we want to see(PS: took that from John Legend’s- If you’re out there, cool song) , the change starts from WE! Let’s speak what we seek until we see what we speak. In this new year, let’s strive to be more united, more security conscious and be orderly from the home..charity begins at home!

I am PROUDLY NIGERIAN! Are you?

HAPPY 55th BIRTHDAY NIGERIA (sorry this is coming a lil bit late)

Lots of chocolate,

Aniee.
